Committee's Role and Advocacy

• Promotion of Policies: Act as visible leaders promoting health and safety policies and programs, setting an example for coworkers, visitors, contractors, and consultants.
• Visitor Engagement: Consider involving committee members in worksite tours for visitors to reinforce safety awareness.

Training and Education

• New Worker Orientation: Assist in educating and training new employees, potentially reviewing onboarding processes for efficiency.
• Support for Training Programs: Help in developing and promoting programs to enhance safety training and education among employees.

Hazard Management and Prevention

• Hazard Recognition: Participate in identifying potential hazards through risk assessments and workplace inspections.
• Incident Investigation: Engage in health and safety inquiries and incident investigations to pinpoint causes and recommend preventive measures.

Program Development and Implementation

• Health and Safety Program Development: Collaborate in developing and implementing various aspects of safety management systems, ensuring consultation with stakeholders.
• Best Practice Advocacy: Champion best practices and advocate for their implementation within everyday work routines.

Resolution and Representation

• Balanced Representation: Act as representatives for both the workforce and management in addressing safety concerns, complaints, and suggestions.
• Conflict Resolution: Assist in resolving workplace safety complaints, work refusals, and stoppages by making practical and effective recommendations.
