Skill:  Use data to do an OEE analysis at the Constraint to pinpoint where to focus improvement efforts, and be able to communicate their findings with a team (who might not understand OEE).

 

Typical coachee:  Leader/Member of Focused Improvement, Daily Management System, Supply Chain Management, Machine Reliability, or a Sponsor.

   

Knowledge needed:  "Why Bottlenecks and Constraints Matter", "Overall Equipment Effectiveness", "OEE Guidance on Calculation", "Focused Improvement (FI) Pillar Overview".

Skill:  Do a Gemba Walk for different purposes (Examples: to build better relationships, to understand the challenges your workforce is facing, to identify the 8 wastes, etc.)

Skill:  Lead a team through the Strategic Planning process, using the guidance from the VSM/Constraint/OEE Analyses, and incorporating into it the roll-out of Pillar Teams.  Would include the overall vision, prioritizing roll-out of pillar teams and their timing, roles and responsibilities, training planning, and project prioritization process.

 

Typical coachee:  Focused Improvement Leader, OpEx Manager/Leader, Sponsor.  (working together with the Steering Team)

 

Knowledge needed:  "Pillars, Teams, and an Operating System - Why and What", "How to Link Strategic Planning through Each Level of the Organization", "Why and How of Strategic Planning", "How to Prioritize Multiple Projects and Initiatives", "Why and How to Grow From Committees to Pillar Teams (Safety Example)", "How to Build Leadership Development" (Champion & Sponsor Course).
